Who We Are

A woman smiling and holding a large cheese and charcuterie board with various cheeses, meats, crackers, olives, and condiments in a kitchen.

Food has always been how I show love, build community, and bring people together.

I’m Jay, a private chef based in Oakland, California, and the founder of Spice Mob. My cooking is rooted in comfort, culture, and intention, inspired by family-style meals, soulful flavors, and the joy that happens when people gather around good food.

Through years of cooking for families, intimate gatherings, and private clients, I’ve learned that food sets the tone for everything. It’s not just about what’s on the table, but how people feel in the space. That belief is at the heart of Spice Mob.

Spice Mob was created to bring that same care and creativity to catered events of all kinds, from weddings and baby showers to corporate gatherings and celebrations. I specialize in family-style soul food, Italian, and Mediterranean-inspired menus that are meant to be shared, enjoyed, and remembered.

Whether your event is big or small, casual or elevated, my goal is always the same: to feed people well and create an experience that feels warm, thoughtful, and effortless.

At Spice Mob, food isn’t just served, it’s shared.

Our Story

Spice Mob was born from a love of feeding people and creating spaces where food feels grounding, generous, and shared.

What started as cooking for family, friends, and private clients grew into something bigger, a desire to bring care, culture, and creativity into every gathering. Along the way, the journey hasn’t been linear or polished, but it’s always been rooted in staying true to what matters: good food, honest work, and meaningful experiences.

Every step has been shaped by community, curiosity, and the belief that food holds people together. That belief guides how we plan menus, how we show up to events, and how we serve our clients.

Spice Mob isn’t about trends or perfection. It’s about creating thoughtful, lasting moments around the table, meals that feel familiar, intentional, and full of heart.
